Having played the single player and tolerating/liking it decent, I'm definitely in the latter category. The others may or may not have liked or played the single player, but really enjoyed the multiplayer. Many people liked or even loved the single player and either never tried the multilayer or didn't care or didn't like it. One of my favourite games but never played it online.įrom what I've seen/heard, Nox is a game of quite divided opinion. Perhaps a Kickstarter would be an interesting thing for people to try. Some fans are trying (or tried) to make a "sequel" but it's going terribly slowly (if not dead) and it might never fully come to fruition. So it might not be entirely EA's fault, just a combination of bad luck and possibly a lack of sufficient maintenance by Westwood (bugs, balance, community). I probably don't know the details as well as others I think Westwood kinda neglected the game aside from adding the very nice Noxquest add-on pack. That said, a low player count after many years (maybe this was 4-5 years? I don't know) is somewhat normal for many games. Many people lament about C&C but I think there's far more reason to lament about Nox.Īside from that, even when Westwood was around, I'm pretty sure the game had pretty dying participation after a certain number of years- like less than 100 playing (online in public servers) at a given time maybe. Loved the game back in the day, did it sell bad or why didn't they make a sequel? (for organizing games and calling out to play)
